The release of the Communicate EP marks a pair of debuts - one for newcomer Jaali, one for the Tower District label. This record showcases Jaali’s electronic ambient style, one that is steeped in the sounds of Boards Of Canada, Air and Moby. The pretty, melodious synth tones here are harmonically rich and often come cloaked in dreamy swathes of reverb. Occasionally tracks break out into rhythm in their final stretches - ‘You Can’t Not Communicate’ has a downtempo breakbeat thing going on, while closer ‘Among Parallels’ features a stirring big-beat climax.
