Together at last! These three celestial bodies seem to have been orbiting each other for aeons, Aussie avant-garde legend Oren Ambarchi and escapee composer-producer Jim O’Rourke having collided at least a few times here and there. Patience Soup sees Japanese underground icon Phew fronting the bill over two epic slices of electro-acoustic chicanery, recorded live at Kitakyushu Performing Arts Centre in November 2015. The gargantuan twin heads of this record splay open the work of all three performers, their life-forces mingling and mixing in fascinating ways. Drones, harsh noise, genteel piano; Phew’s Banshee screech vocal ties the lot together into something unforgettable.
