Karamika - a collaborative project between Black Merlin’s George Thompson and Gordon Pohl - release their second LP (conveniently entitled 2.0). This is a record that moves deftly between various electronic styles. Cuts such as ‘TON 2.5’ and ‘TON 2.6’ are gentle and melodious in a manner that recalls Jon Hopkins, whereas other moments - the ominous downtempo entry ‘TON 2.3’, the hissing dub techno of ‘TON 2.7’ - are more pensive. There’s also a strain of Oval-style glitchery that runs through Karamika’s 2.0.
