Where We Going?, the third LP from Reginald Omas Mamode IV, finds the London artist drawing inspiration from his roots. Maroon, Swahili, Malagasy and Creole are all part of Mamode’s ancestry, and on Where We Going? we see the 22a member making rich, thoughtful music that is in dialogue with this past. The low-lit loop-soul vibe that runs through both Mamode’s discography and that of his brother Mo Kolours is still present throughout Where We Going?, but rather than being the be all and end all of the Mamode sound it now acts more as an anchor for Mamode’s explorations of family, history and himself.
