Uncannily placed in the valley of the improvised and the meticulously planned, Dark Star Safari achieves a higher state of oneness in its four individual creative forces. The first recorded LP by formidable collective Jan Bang, Erik Honore, Eivind Aarset and Samuel Rohrer, Dark Star Safari moves like a half-remembered memory, between solid and immaterial shapes, nose to nose or on the other side of a foggy impasse, barely grounded by stark vocal deliveries and unwieldy instrumental moods.
