After setting out his stall with 2018’s Provisional Electronics EP (also Central Processing Unit), 96 Back returns to the fray with his debut full-length album. Excitable, Girl sees the one born Evan Majumdar-Swift make good on the promise of his first release. This is the latest collection of busy, harmonically rich electro-techno hybrids to be released on the label that does that sound better than anyone else. Most of the tracks here build from melodic synth intros into tough and drum-centric second halves, something that makes them perfect for mid-set deployment. 96 Back’s fellow Yorkshireman Happa lends a hand on the dreamy ‘Lezi’.
