The highly promising C.A.N.V.A.S. imprint drops its first compilation. Many of the artists included on Cipher present work in which electronic and organic elements combine. Entries from Object Blue and Flora Yin-Wong border on musique concrete, Ashley Paul’s ‘Sleep Walker’ recalls the more somnambulent parts of Micachu & The Shapes’ output, Lugh and Olan Monk present the most abrasive entries, and Ben Vince comes through with a typically dense and effects-drenched saxophone workout. Those of you who have spent the past couple of year looking for something similar to PAN’s Mono No Aware LP should give Cipher a go.
