Norwegian producer and DJ Thomas Moen Hermansen — that’s Prins Thomas to you, thanks — takes a more direct stab at melody on his appropriately titled 6th album Ambitions. Naturally, it’s a direct hit. Quite how Prins Thomas manages to collate these disparate ideas (not intended as an album by his own admission) into a concise collection is a major achievement. The birdsong-lead ‘Foreplay’ lands a perfect 10 onto the supremely chilled ‘XSB’, which in turn morphs into a funky beast with ‘Feel A Love’, a classic feel-good electro track in name and spirit. This is discerning electronic music, now with a pop-minded twist.
