Astral Industries (Deepchord, Wolfgang Voigt) present a new record from The Chi Factory. That’s ‘Chi’ as in the Chinese word for ‘life force’ rather than ‘Chi’ as in Chicago, by the way. This is an important distinction, as the tracks that make up The Mantra Recordings are pieces that are designed with the attainment of inner peace in mind. Inspired by the late Robert Lax - a poet who Jack Kerouac counted as one of the best to ever do it - The Mantra Recordings are lengthy spools of new age noise that take in spoken word, ambient synth composition, found sound, rhythm pieces and much more. Laraaji, Carl Stone and Brian Eno are obvious comparisons.
