Having already established himself as krautrock’s poster boy visionary with Neu! and Harmonia, 1977’s Flammende Herzen kickstarts Michael Rother’s esteemed mid-career move into solo artistry. Still adrift in a kosmische muzik space — no doubt thanks to the extraterrestrial thinking of Harmonia co-conspirator and Cluster co-founder Conny Plank — Rother’s solo debut is yet cosily bound to earth by warm synths and a rhythm section made flesh by legendary Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit.
