Here we have a Dust Science reissue of The Black Dog’s 2008 LP Radio Scarecrow. This is a record that still sounds as strange and spooky as it did when it first aired more than a decade ago. Inspired by ‘numbers stations’ and ‘electronic voice phenomena’ - the former being shortwave radio broadcasts of series of numbers, the latter ‘ghost voices’ in recordings that are seen by some as otherworldly spirits - this music takes the hypnagogia of Ghost Box Records to dark extremities. Imagine a blend between Boards Of Canada, The Caretaker, Burial and Aphex and you’re not far off the sound of Radio Scarecrow.
