Mogwai’s Rock Action Records (The Twilight Sad, Kathryn Joseph) is the perfect home for the band’s longtime friend and collaborator Luke Sutherland. Mind you, his Rev Magnetic project isn’t releasing on Rock Action due to nepotism. This new single ‘Gloaming’ is a stunning piece of contemporary songwriting, one that takes in FKA Twigs, Perfume Genius and Dirty Projectors while still remaining singularly beautiful. B-side ‘Firmament Gear’, a track anchored on big post-rock beats and eerie vocal processing, is equally impressive.
