The fourth release on Glacial Industries - a new-look reboot of the much-loved Glacial Sound label - is also the first drop in three years from Irish producer Ellll. Last time we heard from Ellll she was making Special Request-esque rave revivalism (check ‘Febreeze’), but Confectionary shows the producer going down an exciting new path. These tracks are leftfield club tools that balance clattering percussion, icy electronics and ground-shaking sub. ‘Skittles’ would be at home on Timedance, ‘Pepsi’ shows off a Principe influence, and ‘Jawbreaker’ is frosty hard grime that nods to Walton’s recent outings on Tectonic.
