The inaugural drop from D. Tiffany and uon’s xpq? label is a West Mineral Records love-in. West Mineral boss Huerco S. joins up with uon and exael - both artists who have released through the imprint - to form new group Ghostride The Drift. With their eponymous debut EP the group present a set of, in their own words, ‘[o]uter rim junkyard elektro’. These are murky, aquatic electronic pieces that come smothered in reverb and tape hiss. It sort of acts as an extension of (or perhaps a comment on) the lo-fi aesthetic currently being presented by artists like Gnork, Lone and Ross From Friends. The first and last cuts on Ghostride The Drift are the clearest - indeed, these psychedelic deep house numbers wouldn’t sound out of place on D. Tiffany’s other label Planet Euphorique.
