New label Polity kicks things off with a drop from hardcore mischief maker Szare. The trio of cuts that make up POLITY001 show off all sides of the Szare aesthetic. Opener ‘Miner’ is an endlessly-evolving piece of soundsystem techno that balances the bassweight of Kahn & Neek with busy drum programming ala Batu. 140-bpm tool ‘Cut With Glass’ is more melodious than ‘Miner’ without sacrificing any of the toughness, while closer ‘Drop Shadow’ is the sort of slow, menacing roller you might find released on Polity’s fellow Bristol imprint LAVALAVA.
