Surrender to Bendik Giske! After the saxophonist broke through at the back end of 2018 with the beautiful ‘Adjust’ he has decided to kick off the new year with his debut full-length. Surrender showcases two distinct sides of Giske’s aesthetic - effects-drenched saxophone workouts in a similar vein to ‘Adjust’, and ambient pieces of great tranquility. Occasionally, as on ‘Up’ and ‘Exit’, the variant sounds meet in the middle. Comparisons to Colin Stetson spring readily to mind.
