Isolee’s first record out on Mule Musiq for a decade - and his first release of any description for two years - is a typically impressive collection of leftfield house jams. Eponymous cut ‘Ginster’ (we’re not entirely sure if it’s been named after the pasty company) kicks things off with a pattering drum groove and soft synths in a manner similar to Will Long and Moomin. The way in which ‘Sudden Frost’ chops and loops its samples brings to mind a more considered version of Jun Kamoda’s hypno-house. Ginster closer ‘Leap-Second’ repeats the formula of the EP’s title track.
