Alongside Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver is a name synonymous with shoegaze. Having honed their grittily psychedelic sound with 1993’s Mezcal Head, the group get back to basics on Future Ruins, their second post-reunion release after 2015’s sanguine I Wasn’t Born to Lose You. It may have been some 30 years since they first formed, but if swaggering lead single ‘Spiked Flower’ is anything to go by, they’re sounding better than ever.
