Marquis Hawkes had a busy 2018, so you could forgive him if he wanted a little rest at the start of the new year. However, it appears as if the man has other plans. 2019 kicks off with Marquis Hawkes’ first release on Unknown To The Unknown (Legowelt, Neil Landstrumm). Light Of My Life is another cracking house collection from the Berlin-based producer. The title cut and ‘High Altitude Sunrise’ are both brisk, snappy joints that recall Marquis Hawkes’ much-loved drops on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. Nestled between these we have the DJ Koze-esque ‘Sperothon’ and ‘Dreamy’, a track which more than lives up to its title.
