The Pink Opaque is a 1985 compilation album composed of tracks originally recorded between 1982 and 1985 by the Scottish Cocteau Twins. These early tracks were to foreshadow the Cocteau's later oeuvre; all magisterial sonic cinema and doe-eyed vocals. Nothing acts as a better precursor to the sound that was to come than Millimillenary- a fuzzy pop melody dragged through a filter of melodrama and noir performance style. Somehow, the lack of thematic consistency on this collection works in the release’s favour- it plays out like a scrapbook that preceded a great film.
