After 1977’s debut-of-debuts Marquee Moon made a splash — its influence rippling well into 21st century rock with Interpol and The Strokes — Television were faced with the difficult task of following it up. Released a year later, Adventure is decidedly more subdued and cerebral; less a firecracker than a warm, slow burn. Still, don’t doubt its heavy riff credentials; both ‘Foxhole’ and ‘Ain’t That Nothin’’ are blistering work outs, while closing sprawler ‘The Dream’s Dream’ is one of Television’s most magnificent journeys.
