ELWD - that’s pronounced Ellwood, by the way - returns to Bad Taste Records with another set of wide-ranging and idiosyncratic productions. Bad Timing seems to take its cues from the early 2010’s post-dubstep sound of Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Maribou State et al, though the tempos used here are closer to hip-hop than 140-bpm. When you factor in ELWD’s penchant for found sound and folksy percussion the result is an evocative blend that is not dissimilar to the meditative beatwork of Brainfeeder’s Teebs.
