After a couple of LPs released as Yorkston Thorne Khan the Scottish musician James Yorkston reverts to his long-standing moniker for his new record. This change of name also signals a return to Yorkston’s neo-folk routes. The Route To The Harmonium is full of the small-ensemble ballads that Yorkston has brought us for nearly two decades. Augmented by a band that includes strings, accordion and mandolin, Yorkston and his guitar spin out tender, contemplative ditties in a manner similar to Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Richard Dawson.
