One of the highlights of Be With Records’ current crop of KPM Themes International Library reissues is Alan Hawkshaw & Brian Bennett’s 1974 LP Synthesizer And Percussion. In contrast to the relatively large ensemble work of sister-album Synthesis, Synthesizer And Percussion it keeps things stripped back - just a drum kit, some tuned percussion and an ARP synth. The pair make the minimal set-up work here, coming through with a collection of jazz-funk instrumentals that range from light and airy (‘Home Run’) to highly groovy (‘Oddball’).
