Eleven years after his last release, Pentatonik releases his new album after destroying the last one, rather than give it to the label. Taking in influences that range from BOC and Ulrich Schnauss through to Vangelis and Aphex Twin. Joined by Kirsty Hawkshaw for a couple of particularly haunting tracks, Pentatonik seems able to conjure evocative music from the wires with grace and effortlessness. With the likes of 'Sunrise Over White Feather Beach', 'The Rebirth Of Light' and 'Love Is A Rose' of particular poignancy.

Treating electronics like organic structures, the music on 'The Five Angels' seems to evolve without any outside influence, giving the impression of a branching form that evokes the tender compositions of Satie and Nyman. The kind of album that makes your life feel like some kind of Beowulf epic, 'The Five Angels' is broad without losing sight of the important details.
