The fourteenth edition of the renowned Documenta art festival took place in Athens in Spring-Summer 2017. Acclaimed experimental composer Alvin Lucier - he of I Am Sitting In A Room fame - was commissioned to come up with a new work for the festival. His creation, So You … (Hermes, Orpheus, Eurydice), featured speakers set inside amphorae jugs and programmer Tom Erbe mixing voice, clarinet, cello and sine waves in real time. Lucier’s resulting piece, a series of drones and held tones, looks to everyone from These New Puritans to Charlemagne Palestine.
