Whities close out an imperious year with yet another fantastic release. Reckonwrong’s third record to drop on the label turns away from the hardwired techno sound of recent Whities editions and makes for something altogether stranger. The Amsterdam-based Reckonwrong bends familiar sounds into new shapes on Whities 018. His oddball, slightly home-brewed style of electro-pop is not a million miles away from the Magnetic Fields on ‘Paris Is Melting’ and ‘Half A Pill’. Meanwhile ‘14 Days’ and the superbly titled ‘I’m A Spoon’ stumble upon a hitherto-unexplored midpoint between Arab Strap and Perfume Genius.
