When he wasn’t releasing baroque compu-pop via his Slow Release label, Canadian composer and producer Cameron Reed was busy making ambitious modern classical and ambient music as Babe Rainbow. While the chasm of ambient music would become increasingly robust and dense in the following years, Reed’s 2014 EP Minnesota Winter demonstrates his uncanny sense for wintery moods. What’s more, it conjures what Philip Glass would sound like if he had a go soundtracking video games.
