Scottish-born, Denmark-based producer Perko steps out with an EP for Numbers (Peder Mannerfelt, Sophie). The tracks of NV Auto combine a specifically British soundsystem/bass sensibility with some deeper European styles. In the hands of Perko the deep house synth pads on a cut like ‘Songbirds’ are transformed into a high-NRG roller. Ditto the garage-influenced ‘Rounded’ and ‘What Otters’. Moments of beatless tranquility - ‘Sky Host’, ‘Polly’ - are cerebrally blissful in a manner reminiscent of The Orb.
