A nice early Christmas present from James Murphy and DFA Records here. You may recognise ‘I Used To’ from LCD Soundsystem’s triumphant 2017 comeback LP American Dream. A Morricone-inspired post-punk stomp in its original form, here the tune is given a club-ready makeover from Dixon. In the hands of the Innervisions boss, ‘I Used To’ shapeshifts into the sort of disco-house delight on which Murphy built his empire back in the 2000s. Flip the record over and you’ll find ‘Pulse (v.1)’ - which, funnily enough, is exactly the sort of melodious dancefloor filler that one could see being dropped in a Dixon DJ set.
