With a reputation for dabbling in anything from post-punk to country music, The Men spent much of their career charming fans and critics as much as beguiling them. With 2018’s Drift taking the Brooklyn group into ever-more experimental journeys in melodic indie rock, Hated: 2008 - 2011 draws from a slew of demo tapes, split, and live recordings, documenting their halcyon years as a phlegmatic - and prolific - basement hardcore jam band. The intervening years proved they were more than just a punk band but Hated 2008 - 2011 shows that they were nevertheless unmatched at being one.
