'Supernature' is Solennoid's debut album for the ever impressive Orac label and it sees the Portland based artist strip back his sound to give his noises a bit of room to breathe. Previous efforts for the likes of Community Library, Audraglint, Emanate and Zod have been complex, bustling affairs jam-packed with difficult rhythms and complex sound design so it's a delight to see things calm down a bit and Solenoid's fine arsenal of analogue equipment given space to shine. Simplicity rules throughout as the rhythms are generally 4/4 based and a frugal use of melody, largely sequenced on a 303, lets the quality and richness of the sounds become the focal point.
