Hessle Audio/Hadal boss Pangaea returns with a barnstorming two-track release. ‘Cuba Vox’ and ‘You Know What’s Up’ are the sort of tunes that breathe new life into a club set. The former jacks a vocal from Cuba Gooding’s 1983 single ‘Happiness Is Just Around The Bend’, bolting Gooding’s sensuous singing onto a propulsive and dubby minimal beat for a psychedelic delight. ‘You Know What’s Up’, meanwhile, is a hard and fast DJ tool. The groove here brings together bongo house, a Chicago jack and the no-BS drum programming of classic techno. When combined they create a rhythm that is tough and slinky in equal measure.
