Danish electronic trio System makes a strong connection with Nils Frahm on their stunning new album Plus. Using Nils purpose-built improvisations on synth, organ and piano as source material, System merges the warm acoustics with their minimalist digitalism, translating the projects definitive clicks 'n' cuts electronics into vivid new soundscapes. When one-third of System met Nils Frahm at one of his concerts in Copenhagen, they instantly clicked and the ideas for a collaborative project started to materialize from the word go. The resulting album blends the digital dials with Nils piano notes to create a microcosm that at times recalls the recent glass like textures of Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, yet throughout its increasingly evident that this is none other than System setting the controls.
