Intriguing EP from Jing here. Diffraction is the second instalment in a trilogy of records that the Taiwanese producer is making for Steve Bicknell’s 6dimensions (The Evader, Metro Skim). Taking the reins from its predecessor Adularescence, Diffraction finds Jing building on the murky ambiences and post-club soundworld of that record. Though ‘brighter the light, darker the shade’ is a zippy modular study and ‘“? ? ? ?” a grainy drone they both have a distinct flavour of experimental electronics about them. Meanwhile ‘Malentonion’ and ‘Constant Human Game’ bring things back to the dancefloor with their imposing techno grooves.
