Farai gear up for their Big Dada debut LP with this fiery single. ‘Punk Champagne’ is a pointed anarcho-hop diatribe. Over a beat, produced by TONE, that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a golden-era Public Enemy LP vocalist Farai spins an ode to Buckfast-and-cider cocktails with a cartoonishly demented flow pitched somewhere between Danny Brown and late-era Tricky. The way that B-side ‘This Is England’ builds from a menacing pulse into a punk-rap climax recalls the best of Young Fathers. If this single is anything to go by then the full-length is gonna be a riot.
