For fans of production crew Organized Noize, Be With Records’ vinyl release of Sleepy Brown’s debut album ‘The Vinyl Room’ might seem like news that’s long overdue. Alongside fellow members Rico Wade and Ray Murray, Sleepy Brown programmed the distinctive brand of mid-nineties southern hip-hop associated with acts including OutKast and recognisable on TLC’s hit ‘Waterfalls’. His solo work is a blend of throwback funk and neo-soul led tracks that demonstrate Brown’s tastes as a producer and talents as a vocalist.
