Puce Mary keeps busy with The Drought, her debut LP for Pan and also the first full-length she’s released outside of Posh Isolation. The Drought is another salvo of Gothic industrialism from the one born Frederikke Hoffmeier. Many of these tracks balance ethereal textures - church choirs, massed strings - with descents into some fearsome digital noise. Hospital Records is the obvious touchstone, but so too, in a more oblique way, is Clams Casino - we can hear a ghost of the Jersey beatmaker’s magisterial production in The Drought’s grandest moments.
