Ilpo Väisänen returns to Editions Mego (Oren Ambarchi, Loke Rahbek) with a new LP under his I-LP-ON moniker. ÄÄNET finds Väisänen paying tribute to Pan Sonic, the duo he spent more than two decades playing in alongside Mika Vainio. Building from recordings made on the group’s 2000 world tour, Väisänen constructs a record of brutalised electronics and industrial concrete. The way that the record drifts in and out of rhythms, ambiences and field recordings brings to mind Dominick Fernow on a day when he can’t decide which one of his projects he wants to work on and subsequently keeps flitting between them all.
