Back in 2014 the acclaimed sound artist and turntablist Janek Schaefer was commissioned by Canterbury’s Sounds New Festival to create a new piece of music entirely from material on Robert Wyatt’s 2003 album Cuckooland. That work - What Light There Is Tells Us Nothing - forms the first side of Schaefer’s latest LP. The rest of the record sees it backed by seven other original pieces. Across the album Schaefer conjures atmospheres that bring to mind James Leyland Kirby collaborating with Nurse With Wound.
