Rocket Recordings dust off a modern stoner metal classic with this reissue of Newcastle quintet Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs’ second LP King of Cowards. The themes of King of Cowards certainly feel ever more prescient some five years on from its initial release, as the insidious nature of humanity reaches more and more screens. Drawing from the well of classic metal and rock and roll (Sabbath, The Stooges, and Motörhead) as well as dystopian lit (all that pig iconography certainly points to Animal Farm), Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs us their righteous fury not to dwell on the cruelty of it all, but instead provide the ammo fight against it. Indeed, tracks like ‘Shockmaster’ and ‘Thumbsucker’ are burly, slick-riffed calls to arms.
