Light In The Attic’s festival of Hosono continues with this lovely little release. Haruomi Hosono laid down ‘Honey Moon’ for his 1975 LP Tropical Dandy, the former Yellow Magic Orchestra man’s sophomore solo full-length. ‘Honey Moon’ is a lovely tune, a wistful slice of sunset tropicalia that will keep you warm in the cold winter nights. It’s no secret that modern indie’s resident cheeky chap Mac DeMarco is a big fan of Hosono’s oeuvre, so who better for Light In The Attic to pick to cover Hosono’s original? DeMarco proceeds with a light touch on his version, gently updating the instrumentation without losing any of the original’s essence.
