Exploded View return to Sacred Bones with their second LP. Obey is an album as consistently thrilling as it is difficult to pigeonhole. The trio of Annika Henderson (you may know her better as Anika), Hugo Quezada and Martin Thulin slip from one soundworld to the next across the ten tracks here. One minute they’ll be doing a Grouper-type thing (opener ‘Lullaby’), the next we find them on a BEAK>-meets-PJ Harvey flex (‘Open Road’), and then they’ll follow that up with some minimal synthwave (‘Dark Stains’).
