Horsepower Productions surface for the first time in a couple of years with this release. It’s coming out on the relatively new imprint effective96 and features two exercises in contemporary bassweight. ‘Phantasy Rush’ and ‘Reefer Max’ both feature HP’s trademark subs dovetailing with some wistful synths and choppy breakbeats in a manner that suggests they’ve been listening to a lot of Special Request and Daniel Avery. Indeed, perhaps the ‘Phantasy’ in question is Avery’s label. Either way, this is rave revivalism for people who still want to dance.
