The legendary Neneh Cherry drops her first LP since 2014’s Blank Project. Broken Politics is a record with some serious musical muscle behind it. As well as the inimitable Cherry the album also features contributions from Cameron McVey and Massive Attack’s 3D. It also boasts the distinction of being produced by Kieran Hebden. Despite its A-list cast Broken Politics is not a record that rests on its laurels. Across the dozen tracks here Cherry uses her still-extraordinary voice as a vessel with which to bring forth righteous messages of both political and personal change. The instrumentals update her classic soul-hop style with shades of garage, breaks and the new London jazz sound.
