Swedish deviants SHXCXCHCXSH come through with a new full-length record. The duo have long been creating their own warped approximations of club music, but on OUFOUFOF their new dedication to rhythm sees them simultaneously making some of their most accessible and their most ambitious work to date. Each of the eight tracks here has SHXCXCHCXSH turning one rhythmic idea over from every angle. While this approach might suggest a record of minimal techno, and the duo’s express desire to mess with the heads and feet of their listeners is straight from the world of IDM, what we actually end up with is an album of glitching almost-beats that nods to Autechre and EVOL.
