Over at Diagonal a pile of weird, sample heavy, hand-stamped vinyl arrived from $hit & $hine. Slowed down funk tracks that rotate around an index of Rihanna’s sassiest lyrics, Craig Clouse’s bass-orientated and lo-fi works manoeuvre their way towards a chopped and screwed destination. Featuring Steely Dan’s ‘Black Cow’ on the EP’s title track and humorous vocal clips from strange locations (including reality TV show Road Wars), Clouse’s latest work bears resemblance to some of his earlier hits like ‘Who’s Your Waitress’. The R&B and funk elements of ‘Very High’ place the work in territory similar to some of Stones Throw’s recent and more experimental releases.
