The excellent Foom Records (Rhys Chatham, Peter Zummo) drop the latest full-length from New York’s very own Peter Gordon. On Eighteen, Gordon blends busy drum machine takes with sounds from the worlds of jazz-fusion, 90s downtempo, contemporary classical music and Krautrock. It makes for a record of stirring instrumental music. While it’s probably a coincidence that Eighteen has emerged at around the same time as the first LP from Jeff Mills’/Gerald Mitchell’s Spiral Deluxe group there is certainly a shared spirit between the two records.
