Swedish duo Roll the Dice contains Malcolm Pardon, the film and television composer, and Peder Mannerfelt, the experimental electronic producer who released the highly acclaimed and beautifully unaffected ‘Controlling Body’ back in 2016. Described as both ‘future basement jazz’ and ‘synthwave’, recordings of their live performance at Atonal festival capture the duo’s interest in electronic music in its broadest sense, as both an artform and an energy. Swerving from the rich sonic pulsations of ‘Intro & the Derailed’ to the rhythmic intro and high energy jungle takeover on ‘INward Spiral’, Roll the Dice continually present audiences something unexpected and refreshing.
