Three years on from their debut LP Days Gone By and Bob Moses come through with the follow-up. On Battle Lines the Brooklyn duo (yeah, we assumed it was just one person called Bob too) double down on the stylised synth-pop of their previous output. This is a collection of evocative tunes that imbues the sleek sound of Johnny Jewel’s Italians Do It Better with a no-holds-barred earnestness taken from the book of heartland rock. Self-titled LP-era Bon Iver would be proud of some of the tracks here. Elsewhere on Battle Lines cuts like ‘Listen To Me’ and ‘Back Down’ are arena-sized deep house reminiscent of Blonde.
